According to UNECE association reports, softwood timber market will increase by another 2% in 2006. Also prognoze for year 2007 is optimistic and predicts another increase by approximately 2%; consumption of softwood in Europe should reach 102 mil. m3. The optimistic mood prevailing in spite of US housing movement decrease and even though it is not certain whereas will this phenomenon affect European market. In 2006 many European countries felt improvment in sawmill supplies from local sources as log prices rose and owners were selling more. On the other hand, some countries, including Czech Republic, reported difficulties with wood supplies caused by fast growth of processing capacities which do not satisfy material supply possibilities.
