Exports of European beech exports to the US are still on the rise. Beech sawn timber exports increased 71% in the 1st semester to 13.3 million USD. The volume of exports increased 94% to 35 000 m3. US import stats from Austria show a 336% which is probably the result of the distribution agreement Abalon closed with Weyerhauser/Northwest. German sawmills sales increased to a new record to 33 000 m3 (+63% to 12.3 million USD versus 15.8 million USD for the full year of 2005). (Source: Woodnet.cz)
