Gabon’s SNBG has raised the prices of okoume logs for producers by 4%, which would soon prompt a rise in export prices. Producers and exporters have for some time been lobbying the SNBG to increase the fixed okoume and ozigo prices in line with the general advance in prices for virtually all species over the past six months. However, producers continue to complain that prices for lesser/secondary log species have remained too low. They argue that log and transport costs are the same as for the primary species.
