German wood-processing industry recorded a dramatic increase by 16% in the first quarter of 2006. The sector turnover reached EUR 1.07 billion. Furniture sector was also successful in the begining of the year. Turnover in furniture sector increased by 8%; the best result in the last 8 years. Germany has also decreased cheap wood imports from Eastern countries, which anabled to raise production of domestic wood-processing companies. (Source: Woodnet.cz)
