As the first state forests in Denmark, the two Danish state forest districts Kronborg and Fussingo; are now certified according to the two most widely acknowledged international forest certification schemes, FSC and PEFC. The two districts cover 12,000 hectares including 7,500 hectares of forest. In collaboration with Rainforest Alliance (FSC) and BMG Trada Certifiering AB (PEFC), NEPCon conducted the independent third party evaluations forming the basis for both certifications. Subsequently the Danish Minister of Environment Connie Hedegaard has announced that the remaining state forests shall also be certified according to both the FSC and PEFC standards. It is expected that certification assessments of the remaining 18 districts will take place during the coming year. (Source: Fordaq)
